Sweet Sons

Staying home with a 2 and 4 year old isn't always easy, but I try to focus on the good times... Accentuate the positive, as they say. This morning I had a moment with the boys that I hope to remember forever.

We were on our way to the YMCA and getting in the car when Rex (2yrs) knocked his head on the open door (oops!). I picked him up as he started to cry. Leo (4yrs) came around from the other side of the car to see what happened. "I want to give Rex a hug and make him feel better," he said.

I set Rex down and Leo gave him *the sweetest ever* hug and kiss. My heart melted right there.

I looked at Rex's owie and said, "Ooooh, you got a bump there, poor guy."

"I'm not poor, I'm happy," Rex replied. Melted AGAIN. He saw me starting to tear up and asked, "Are you happy?"

Yes, Rex, I'm happy, too.

I left the kids at the Y and headed out on my run, replaying that moment in my head over and over... I felt like I was running on a cloud. It's amazing to watch your needy, screaming babies turn into caring, thoughtful kids!
